HOW TO SAVE TIME AND MONEY WITH THE INSTANT POT

It’s cliche to say it, but it really felt like it would never come.  Our cookbook, Master the Electric Pressure Cooker is ready to order and be shipped out to all you wonderful people’s homes!  I’m ecstatic beyond words and I am just dying to know what you think!

A stack of books on a table 'Master The Electric Pressure Cooker Cookbook'

Before I dive into the book, allow me a moment to be real with you all (but if you want to skip all this touchy, feely stuff, scroll on down to the part where I gush about the book and tell you about a giveaway!).

I’m incredibly new to this blogging world, I probably do a lot of things that the experts say you should never do.  I’ve likely messed up settings and links and written things that were appalling or embarrassing, purely out of being naive and in a sense, a child in this food bloggin’ world.  You can just look at these pictures and see how awkward I am in ANY kind of spotlight!

Marci sitting down reading 'Master the Electric Pressure Cooker'

So as I sat down to write all about our cookbook, Master the Electric Pressure Cooker, and why you should get it . . . my mind went completely blank.  It took me days of thinking and jotting down sales pitch notes to finally realize that as much as I want everybody in the world to buy our book and die happy every time they cook from it, the meaning of the book sat much deeper inside of me.  This book for me is all about the Power of Sisterhood.

Marci and Cami reading Electric Pressure Cooker Cookbook

The very moment that thought entered my mind, I got chills over every inch of my body and my eyes welled up with tears.  I knew then, without a doubt that that was the message I wanted to share.  I haven’t the faintest idea how many will even take the time to read this, but whether it’s for the masses or for a few, it’s the message I want to share.

POWER OF SISTERHOOD

Our first taste of sisterhood was when we were barely teenagers.  My father had passed away when we were younger and my brothers had recently left on missions for our church.  I remember joking about it with my mom, Cami, and my youngest sister Maegan, looking at our all girl home and saying, “We got this!”.

And together, we did get it, we owned it, and we rocked it, in our all girl home!  We were an unbreakable Sisterhood.

I would be amiss if I didn’t say that our strength came from our leader, our mother.  My mom had to be a tremendously strong human being to overcome and thrive how she did. Watching her example I believe is what made us girls the strong willed woman we are.  But she also taught us softness, manners, respect, and to honor and cherish our future husbands.

So bringing this back to our cookbook.  This book came about from 4 strong women, and it wouldn’t mean nearly as much to me if I hadn’t done it with all of them.

Marci and Cami sitting on the floor

MOM

My mama taste tested my food, and there’s nobody in this world who would more happily give me an honest opinion.  She read everything I wrote and endlessly reminded me that my sentences go on more like a paragraph and that sometimes I just need to get to the point and stop rambling.  She was also the ever present ear.  There’s no one that can listen like my mom.  She’s wise, she’s blunt, and she’s great at telling me to stop feeling sorry for myself and get to work.  Whenever I start to degrade myself, I hear my mom’s words in my head, “Now you knock it off.  The fact that you want to be better is sign enough that you are a wonderful human being.” Thanks mom, I love you!

YOUNGEST SIS

Now to my sis, Maegan, AKA my food soul sister.  She has been the greatest support whenever I needed it.  And that is typically at 4 a.m. when I need someone to text that won’t be bugged (Ahem…Cami…cough, cough).  My brain is alive with ideas early in the morning and Maegan is the reason behind some of my greatest creations.  Her cooking is delicious and her palate is spot on.  When I needed to rapidly develop new recipes for this printed version of the book, she willingly cooked and tested every single recipe so I could know my recipes and directions were on point.  She’s 8 years younger than me and if it weren’t for her glowy, unwrinkled skin, you would never know it.  She’s put together, knowledgeable, motivated, and can take command of a situation better than I will ever be able to do.  Thanks Maegs, I love you!

TIDBITS SIS

Now to Cami, the person of the sisterhood I have the least amount of things common with, but somehow together, we can seriously kick some butt.  This book would have never come to existence without Cami’s vision of what it could one day be.  Cami is one of the hardest working individuals I know.  We spent hours upon hours cooking, shooting, writing, designing, etc, etc, and every time one of us thought we were going to crack and crumble under the pressure, the other was there to be the stronger more level headed individual.  She pushed me out of my comfort zone and opened up a world to me that I could feel passionate about.  How ironic that my younger sister is the one who showed me my potential and revealed a world to me that I couldn’t see before in my incredibly routine ways.  This cookbook and this blog that she helped me create has brought me more stress and work than I had ever imagined it would, but it freed my soul and unlocked a creativity in my mind I didn’t realize was there.  Thank you Cami, I love you!

Cami holding the Electric Pressure Cooker Cookbook

It is because of this sisterhood, particularly with Cami, that this book means so much.  If I had gone it alone and had only my name written on the cover of the book, it wouldn’t have near the impact on me.  Together we lost sleep, we felt anxiety, and we felt pushed beyond what we thought we could take.  Together we had fears that froze us, doubts that drained us, and contention that made us question what we were doing.

Shot of Cami and Marci reading their book

But in the end, together we felt giddy anticipation of the future, an overwhelming sense of accomplishment, and exhilarating joy for every moment and opportunity that has come with this book so far.  Together we dived into our first copy of the book and relived the tears and laughter that came with each recipe (like when I cooked halibut for a photo shoot and we basically held our breath until the smell was returned to it’s tightly sealed container!  Drama Queens?  Yes!)

This cookbook is the treasure it is because we did it together.  1 mama and 3 sisters, we dug deep, we worked hard and together we owned it, we rocked it!

ON TO THE BOOK!

Now for those of you that are still reading (bless you!!), let me go ahead and tell you why you NEED Master the Electric Pressure Cooker in your life!

After the release of the ebook version of this book in 2016, I asked buyers what they wanted more of, and the majority said dinner recipes.  So that’s what we did and they are full flavored (no bland food round here!) and blow your socks off good.  Each with just enough twist to keep dinner memorable and worth the effort.

For Example:

DINNER

Barbacoa Beef Burritos covered with the love of my life- Butternut Squash Nacho Cheese Sauce

Easy HEALTHY Tamales (no joke, they’re healthy) – a meat lovers version and a veggie version with goat cheese – nuff’ said

Barbecue Jerk Pork Ribs that that are finger lickin’ good, or in my kids case – plate, pan, fork, face, and finger lickin’ good

Teriyaki Fish Tacos with Mango Cucumber Salsa that turned me into a fish lover (well a selective fish lover, anyways) created by my favorite Hawaiian, Rich Lum

Smoked Paprika “Roasted” Chicken bursting with flavor and so incredibly tender

Easy Meatball Marinara that I could eat every week for the rest of my life (especially in meatball sub form!)

Mongolian Beef with Quick Pickled Vegetables – has all the flavor of a good authentic version with a fraction of the sugar

And more!

BREAKFAST

I also amped up the breakfast section with healthy whole grain breakfasts like:

Apple Cinnamon Walnut Custard Steel Cut Oats – it’s takin’ my routine steel cut oat game to a whole new level of creamy, rich, and decadent (but still breakfast!)

Cherry Pineapple Upside-Down Steel Cut Oats – A dessert turned into a healthy, filling breakfast

AND MORE!

I’ve added a sugar free Vanilla “Cheesecake” (quotations added because it’s actually a cashew cream) to my dessert section that I adore with my whole heart

New Infused Honey Flavors (chocolate!)

There’s another take on a savory cheesecake – Sun-dried Tomato Pesto Cheesecake (the Tomato Vinaigrette is ridiculous!)

And on and on and on.

Each recipe features 1 or more tips and tricks to make your life easier, your food divine-er, and your pressure cooking game stronger!

Oh wow, I am out of breath with excitement just writing all that.  I adore these recipes, and I can confidently say that you will too!  I have a passion for making whole grain, healthy, low sugar recipes that people can’t help but fall in love with.  Then, so my kids never accuse me of having no dessert skills, I’ve also included some sugar loaded, decadent, heart warming treats to make sure you can experience balance in all things.

Marci holding the electric pressure cooker book, with Cami looking over her shoulder

Thank you all for your tremendous support, the book preorders, and your kind words as I’ve hoped and prayed for this book to be a success.  Each and every purchase makes my heart skip a beat with joy!  If I could, I would thank each and every one of you with a big pot of piping hot Crio Bru.

I can’t wait to hear of your experiences with Master the Electric Pressure Cooker as you read it, use it, and gaze upon Cami’s beautiful photography.  Your comments mean the world to me!

I savored every word you wrote about sisterhood. My two sisters and I recently completed one of the most difficult, challenging and yet rewarding journeys of our lives. My extraordinary mother recently came to the end of her 92 year life due to dementia/Alzheimer’s related illness. My sisters and I held Mom, and each other, together through such incredibly difficult days. I am so grateful for the strength and the love of my sisters. One of my greatest joys was cooking for Mom as her illness progressed. Pressure cooking was invaluable in making flavorful, healthy meals that she could eat. Now that she is gone I am looking forward to starting a new chapter in my cooking. Your book looks amazing. I can’t wait to add it to my collection of favorites. Thank you for your meaningful words about your sisterhood and for sharing your exciting recipes. I wish you great success with your beautiful book!!!

She introduced me to the pressure cooker not by teaching me but by cooking using one in our home. Later I was curious and tried the IP and love it. Even tried the regular one too! She would let me make the biggest mess to cook dinner and I wouldn’t have to clean it up. She made cooking a joy for me and for that I am thankful❤️

The sisterhood here in our part of the Shenandoah Valley is comprised of my eight daughters and me, and a sweet bunch of granddaughters tossed into the mix. Cooking is a huge part of our family culture… so we do family dinners and baby showers (lots of them) and birthday dinners and cakes (lots of them — we’re on grandbaby #22 and great-grandbaby #4, so far) and family reunions, cookie baking days, and Moms Night Out, and so much more. I am so honored that my girls and I still love to be with each other, and it brings tears to my eyes to know that they are all best friends. And all my local gals and I have Instant Pots, so we’d love to play with the cookbook! 🙂

Congrats on the new cookbook! My sisterhood… A group of my friends were all consultants for a scrapbooking company and bonded over a couple years of conventions. One year was just off and we named ourselves the Disters because of all of the screwy things that were happening. Many years later, we still all love each other but some have moved. We can’t get together monthly like we used to do.

How wonderful I am looking forward to your cookbook. Our family loves to cook and most of us still prefer a cookbook than searching the net. I am the second youngest of nine girls and have two girls of my own. I love my Instant pot and I am enticing and encouraging my sisters towards getting one. Both of my girls are quite impressed and know they are getting an Instant pot for Christmas this year. Your cookbook would be a great accompaniment with their gift. Our family loves to cook.

I love cookbooks, as my Mom, though a good baker, was not a great cook (my Dad mostly kept us fed). They encouraged my brother and I to explore cooking, and when we were old enough we all took turns at dinner.

I’ve had four daughters, the three adult daughters love to cook, and two of the three own Instant Pots. They have all grown to be successful women, but I defined my goals for them in a non-monetary way; “You will be a good person, you will support yourself, and you will get an education.” I love them all so much, but it sure is great to have them be best friends rather than squabbling sisters at home.

My mother worked full time when it wasn’t the “norm” but always made Everything from scratch for us, including pickles and ketchup. We never knew what cake box mixes were until we left home! I am not as good as she is, but she gave me the love to cook for my loved ones and enjoy the creativity. It has even passed on to my son who is now a chef and cooks with love and passion as well. We love spending time as a family in the kitchen every chance we get. And to be honest, with schedules today, the instant pot and the recipes you have created for it, it has made that time spent together even more fun because we have more time to visit and then EAT! ????????
