Kid Cooking Subscription Boxes are, in my opinion, one of the greatest products of all time. Kid tested and mother approved, here’s a review of our favorite boxes that we think you will love as well!

I love kid subscription boxes!
I’m a busy mama (like everyone else) and the thoughts of putting together a meaningful activity to do one on one with my kids often weighs heavy on my mind.
With little time and an exhausted imagination, my good intentions often turn into watching a movie or reading a book with the kids. This counts but doesn’t exactly promote meaningful conversations.
Kid subscription boxes have been my answer to this dilemma for 6 years now.
Note: This post focuses on cooking subscription boxes. If you’re looking for a kid arts/crafts/engineering subscription box, Kiwi Co is the way to go!
THE KID SUBSCRIPTION BOXES BRANDS I REVIEWED:
- KiwiCo Yummy Crate
- Raddish
- Kidstir

My kids are much more open to cooking and tasting recipes from these boxes because in their minds they were “designed for kids.” They gain a lot of confidence from cooking recipes that work and that people enjoy. It’s such a fun process to observe!
I’ve tried several different subscriptions off and on over the years so today I want to tell you all about my favorite Cooking Subscriptions. I’ll add a plug for my favorite non-food related subscription boxes at the bottom if you’re interested.
The boxes I’m telling you about work for all ages and skill levels. They can be projects your child takes on by themselves, or even more fun, can involve the parents or siblings.

Last thing: Subscription boxes mean you are signing up for a series of boxes. Different boxes have different terms, but typically there are offers for 3, 6, or 12 month plans with the deal getting better the higher you go.
They work great for gifts because it is something kids can look forward to each month and a perfect way to build strong, fun relationships with your children or grandchildren.
Many of the boxes also offer opportunities for kids to interact on social media with others using the same boxes. I’ll admit I haven’t dived into any of that (I’d like to keep my kids off social media as long as possible), but for older kids, I think this would be a lot of fun!

Alright, let’s get started!
KiwiCo Yummy Crate
2024 update: KiwiCo is discontinuing this crate 🙁 However, if you enjoy subscription boxes, I HIGHLY recommend anything and everything from KiwiCo. My kids have enjoyed these from the time they were 3 year old to teenagers. This company creates incredible boxes!
You all know I’m a HUGE fan of KiwiCo so their launch of a subscription cooking box was exciting news for me. I expected great things from their new Yummy Crate and wow did they deliver!

WHAT YOU GET:
- PORTFOLIO OF RECIPE CARDS
- Three family-friendly recipes that not only teach kitchen skills but also explore the SCIENCE of cooking (my boys loved this part).
- A NEW KITCHEN TOOL
- A specialty kid-friendly kitchen tool comes with each kit. Bonus: they are good quality tools that last.
- STEAM ACTIVITIES
- Two hands-on projects to foster creative fun and learning in the kitchen.
- YUMMY ZINE MAGAZINE
- This is a booklet of kid-friendly science, comics, history, and facts about food (my son read it front to back and happily shared his knowledge with grandma).
- GROWNUP GUIDE:
- This includes the shopping lists you’ll need with suggestions on how to customize it for your family’s preferences.
MOM REVIEW
- YOU KILLED IT KIWICO! My kids have loved all of the cooking subscription boxes we’ve used over the years, but the focus on the SCIENCE OF COOKING, really spoke to my ever-curious children. It takes the experience to the next level and keeps them engaged throughout the entire cooking process. I’m also a fan of the recipes so far. They use wholesome ingredients and are indeed kid-friendly while still giving them new flavor experiences and opportunities to broaden their palate.
KIDS REVIEW
- As I mentioned, the science focus of this crate is genius. My son never cares to cook with me, but after reading about the “Malliard reaction” in the booklet, he was all about jumping into witness this reaction in action for himself. My daughter is 11 and could easily work through these cards by herself (even forming burger patties herself, which surprised me). To have all 3 of my kids reading and wanting to cook these meals was very impressive to me.
TRY IT OUT
- Head over to KiwiCo to order the Yummy Crate. If you’re looking for crates for kids interested in art, crafting, and engineering, they’ve got those too!
RADDISH
I’ve used Raddish many times off and on over the past few years so I know their boxes well. Raddish is constantly creating new boxes so you can look forward to new recipes for many years to come.

WHAT YOU GET:
- THREE WIPEABLE/STAINPROOF RECIPE CARDS
- Each card includes colorful, fun illustrations of the ingredients and tools needed plus drawings of every single step of the cooking process. My 8 year old can nearly follow these steps on her own, they are so clear! A complete grocery list for each recipe is also included.
- KITCHEN TOOL/GADGET
- These tools are good enough quality that we are still using them after three years. Whisks, timers, spatulas, cookie cutters, measuring spoons, etc. My daughter takes a lot of pride in using her “own kitchen tools.”
- THREE CULINARY SKILL LESSONS
- I love these! They are quick, informative lessons that teach basics like How to Whisk, Knife Safety, Chopping vs Dicing, etc.
- KITCHEN CRAFTS, EXPERIMENTS, OR FAMILY ACTIVITIES
- Our last box taught how to be a good waiter/waitress and included an order pamphlet. My kids have a lot of fun with these activities!
- IRON ON APRON PATCH
- A unique Iron On Patch comes with every box. My daughter waits until she has completed the recipes in the box, then irons it onto her apron (which is included in your first box).
- COLLECTIBLE CONVERSATION STARTER CARDS
- New Collectible Conversation Starter cards arrive with every box. My kids love these and I pull them out when I feel tension moving in at dinner. It lightens the mood every time.
MOM REVIEW
- I love Raddish! They make their boxes an all in one learning, teaching, cooking guide that nails the goal of bringing families together for good food and fun around the table. The recipes they provide are spot on to how I feed my family: mostly healthy, whole grain, veggie filled meals plus an occasionally decadent, fun, kid-friendly meal or dessert. My kids didn’t love all of the recipes especially ones with lots of veggies, but it does encourage them to try things they never would otherwise. From my perspective, all of the recipes have been very tasty. The variety keeps my kids open to trying new things and makes cooking enjoyable.
KIDS REVIEW
- My kids LOVE the pictures in the recipe cards. My daughter says she wishes all recipes came with such good step by step photos. My kids opinion of the recipes are that they are mostly yummy, but some they don’t ever want to make again (zucchini fries, which were awesome, and I ate the whole pan). They get very excited to see what activity each box includes and have fun with the “Table Talk” cards. Three thumbs up all around!
TRY IT OUT
- Go to Raddish. Right now is the best time to get a subscription! There are so many deals going on.
KIDSTIR
This was the first Kid Cooking Subscription Box I ever tried and the beginning of my obsession with subscription boxes. Kidstir’s kits repeat from year to year with an occasional Special Edition Kit. My daughter and I enjoyed cooking through each and every kit and she has a full and complete binder of their recipes.

WHAT YOU GET
- COOKBOOK BINDER
- The binder comes with tabs to organize all of the hole punched recipe cards that come each month, keeping things so nicely organized.
- THREE STEP BY STEP RECIPE CARDS WITH SHOPPING LIST
- Each step has an accompanying picture making it easy for you and your child to see what the food should look like along the way. Each recipe card comes with notes to the parent on how to help your child and “Chef’s Secrets” for elevating the recipe. The boxes are specific to each month and holiday, so in November you get Thanksgiving ideas, February is all about Valentines, etc.
- THREE EDUCATION PAGES
- These pages are so great for feeding a child’s love of food education. Here you’ll find things like History of Cinnamon, How to Use a Crinkle Cutter, and Tips for Cutting an Avocado. Talk about a confidence builder!
- TWO COOKING TOOLS
- Each kit comes with 2 child sized cooking tools that will be used for that month’s recipes. For example: cookie cutters, ice cream scoop, mini tongs, etc. They are meant for kids so they are smaller and don’t contain anything sharp.
- GAMES/ACTIVITIES
- Cooking is even more fun when it comes with an activity! Examples: Learn how to say food names in Spanish, make personalized table settings, cookie math, etc.
MOM REVIEW
- Again, I love Kidstir! Some of the tools don’t work as well as my adult version, but they are easier and safer for my kids to use. I feel like the Kidstir recipes are more familiar to children and don’t push them out of their comfort zones too much. They still provide plenty of opportunities to try new foods (Cauliflower Crunchies, Kale Chips, Pizza Soup, etc) but are mixed with a nice array of recipes my kids tend to label as “kid food” (Pizza, Pancakes, Smoothies, etc). I enjoyed most of the recipes but some I had to kick them up a notch flavor-wise (being a major salt and spice lover). I took the liberty of swapping out white flour for white whole wheat in several of the recipes and it worked great every time.
KIDS REVIEW
- My daughter used this one when my boys were babies so I will focus on her opinion here. She loves the kid size kitchen tools and takes a lot of pride in using “her tools.” It is very helpful for her to see what the food should look like along the way and she has learned a lot of kitchen skills by working through the Education Pages (skills that she is sometimes more resistant to listen to me explain). She likes most of the recipes and has made them more than once. She is sad that there aren’t any new boxes since Kidstir boxes repeat each year, but that has also given her a chance to make these recipes multiple times.
TRY IT OUT
- Head to Kidstir to order your subscription! You can choose a monthly, 3 month, 6 month, or 12 month subscription. Each comes with a Bonus Magazine and the 12 month comes with the Recipe Binder.

MORE KID SUBSCRIPTION BOXES THAT I LOVE
KIWI CO
I am a hardcore supporter of Kiwi Co 6 years running. Kiwi Crates are all about encouraging kids to be creative, think critically, and discover their capabilities. For my 3 kids, I receive the Kiwi Crate, Tinker Crate, and Atlas Crate every month. I could go on forever about how great they are!
The Kiwi Crate is simple with a nice variety of art and science projects. The Tinker Crate is for older kids. but with my assistance, it is perfect for my 7-year-old budding engineer. The Atlas Crate is like a journey around the world and I love how knowledgeable my daughter is becoming about other countries.
Kiwi Co is seriously amazing. Follow this link to order today. Be sure and check their header for promo codes!

If there’s one you’d like me to check out or a box that you already love, let me know in the comments below! You know I’m a sucker for testing out new products 🙂
I hope you find this helpful! Here’s wishing you lots of happy, fun memories with your food lovin’ kiddos!

Which company would you recommend for baking kits for 12 and 14 year olds. They both take culinary class at their middle school, but only want to do baking at home.
Thanks
Shayna, Good question! I would suggest going with Raddish. My daughter really enjoyed this box when she was 12. She’s now 14 and is happy to just google recipes and try anything and everything! So if they’re at that level, perhaps you don’t need a subscription box (even thought it’s the funnest mail day ever!).
I just found this post while looking for cooking boxes for my 10 year old. As I was looking at your suggestions I found out that KiwiCo is discontinuing their Yummy boxes. Wanted to let you know so you could update your post.
Beth, thank you so much! I will update this right away.
Have you tried the I’m a chef, too subscription box?
Autumn, I haven’t! I’ll look into that one.
Thank you so much for your review of the cooking subscription boxes. They all look fantastic. If you had to pick your overall favorite, which one would it be? I want to get a subscription for my granddaughter who is 9. She loves to cook and already has some good skills in the kitchen. Thank you.
Sue, my favorite this season is KiwiCo’s new Yummy Crate. My daughter cooked her way through the whole thing and loved it! A 9 year old would adore this box.
Hello. Would you be willing to review yummy crate when it comes out in November? It’s also from kiwi , thank you
Sarah, I’m all over it :). I emailed them and asked if they could send me one stat to check out. I’m waiting to hear back. I have no doubt Kiwi will deliver big on this. All of their stuff is so fantastic.
I love the idea of these subscriptions. However, both of my children have dietary restrictions. One cannot have eggs or nuts, the other can’t have dairy or gluten. Do any of these boxes have good information on substitutions in case of dietary restrictions?
Rebecca, Raddish is really great about giving suggestions for vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, egg-free, and dairy-free. I’m not positive, but I believe Kidstir does as well.
My grandkids love to bake cookies and desserts with me. The love to use the hand mixer and of course lick the beaters!
My grandkids love to cook supper with me. They love helping with everything.
My grandkids love to help make supper with me. I am hoping to teach them recipes that have been in our family for generations.
My grandkids love to help make whatever is for dinner. I am hoping to start teaching them family heirloom recipes so that a future generation will know how to make recipes that have been in our family for years.
Your post is right on time for our family thank you! I just left the Asian market filling my list of ideas for the kids Behr is 6 and Helena 8. They love Asian food, so for Xmas we are getting them a sushi set. ( my friend does radish and said her Tokyo box came with similar items!) and we getting them a hotpot for family dinner fun. We wanted to inspire them more with recipes and will need to choose soon!!
It’s hard to find my daughters favorite thing to cook. She makes pancakes, waffles, spaghetti, tacos, cookies, brownies, you name it. She would love this box to learn new things and expand her cooking skills and ideas.
My son loves to measure the baking powder and scrape it on the top. He is especially helpful with pancakes and banana bread.
My kids love making pancakes, pizza and cookies.
One of my daughters likes to cook cake and the other one likes to experiment with lots of different things, including (randomly) radishes, which she lightly pan fries and oil with salt and pepper :)!
My dudes have done very little cooking compared to their sisters. Would love to get them in the kitchen! These boxes are a great idea.
Thanks for this post! I wanted to learn about cooking subscription box options for kids and this site was just what I was looking for. They all sound so fun that now I can’t decide which one to get for my 3 girls! I’m leaning towards Little Sous or Food Stirs, and a kiwi crate might be in their near future too!
My kids love to make our Hello Fresh meals. I’m thinking about getting a kit just for them each month.
My daughters favorite thing to cook in the kitchen is brownies. She likes to cook for her brother and sister daily.
My son loves to cook, especially mexican dishes and pasta.
We love to cook and bake together! My children are 7 & 9 and enjoy learning the basics when helping. We would love to win the kit to try out! Perfect family bonding time, with excitement of following along a kit!!
My granddaughter is 5 years old and has loved to cook (and even clean up!) for several years. She likes to create her own things and has started to learn that what you add to your bowl will make a big difference in how it turns out. Granted she likes to almost always start with chocolate chips but she has learned that you need more than that to bake anything.
My grandson is five and he enjoys being in the kitchen and helping when his are cooking. His favorite foods to cook are typical of a five year old, pizza and Mac n cheese.
I’m doing “Grandma School” for my two grandchildren during quarantine and they LOVE to cook! My seven-year-old granddaughter loves to make “treats” for her little brother while he naps 🙂 Her current favorite thing to make is a caramel chocolate mug cake; she adds a new surprise ingredient every time 🙂 All of us would love the Raddish subscription boxes to add to our pandemic learning toolbox ❤️
My child loves to see how things come together in the kitchen. We love making cookies because of the process! But his favorite thing to do, is use an egg whisk to make fluffy eggs!
No children at home, but we’re homeschooling two grandkids for the school year. Our granddaughter (seven) loves being in the kitchen and doing anything which involves cracking eggs. She made an entire pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving, even crimping her own homemade crust!
my daughter loves to help in the kitchen. She’s really good at making spaghetti! This subscription looks like so much fun!
Our grandchildren just love to bake. Whenever they are here they always ask to do a recipe with me, cakes, cookies or a dessert. They are 6,7, and 10 yrs old.
We love to make pancakes, cookies, and pizza together.
My boys love to be in the kitchen. My 6 yr old loves to help dump, stir, and pour ingredients. My 10 yr old is getting good at cutting ingredients, measuring foods, and following step-by-step
My 3yo and 4yo love helping me cook & bake! They love using a plastic knife to help cut veggies and fruits. But their favorite is helping me bake goodies such as cookies and cake!
Just wondering what would be your favorite for a 12 year old who enjoys to cook but is very much learning still. He’s inbetween the kid and teen stage.
Jess, I would definitely go with the Raddish. That’s been my daughter’s favorite (she’s 10) and her 13-year-old cousin also loves it.
Thank you so much for writing this up! I have been pondering these subscriptions and your post helped me to make the decision! I used your code and set up for the Raddish kits. Appreciate you taking the time to share your experiences.
Mylisa, Yay! I’m excited for you. I just got my Halloween kit from Raddish. It’s so fun to do with the kids.
Have you tried America’s Test Kitchen subscription box for kids yet? Can you try and review please?
Justine, I didn’t know about it til now! Thanks for letting me know. I’ll check it out.
I’m looking for a cooking subscription box of some kind for a teen. Everything I have seen is for little kids…Help!
Kodi, my 14-year-old niece loves the Raddish box. How old is your teen and how experienced in the kitchen?
I love making cookies with my kids for many reasons! My oldest loves to bake and has become better than me!
I made my kids bake from scratch when they were less than ten years old (no mixes!). Now our daughters are all in their 30s and accomplished cooks and bakers of breads and cheesecake. I’m now doing the same with our grandkids, who love to help bake cookies and cut up things for meals. My mom didn’t teach me anything about the kitchen, so this is rewarding for me.
I have looked at subscription boxes for quite awhile now, but couldn’t ever decide which box best suited our family, so thank you for this insight!! We love to make banana bread, my two kids ask to make ot all the time, but neither of them like to eat it. So I think it’s time for me to branch out and find something they both like to make AND eat so I don’t eat all the banana bread myself 😳
Thank you for this! I’ve been hesitant to try a subscription box, but these look really great. I have four boys and they love to cook. My oldest has started making cookies, and my 7 yo loves to make scrambled eggs and omelettes.
I’m just starting to get my son involved in the kitchen with me. Right now he makes his yogurt or cottage cheese bowls. And he helps me make my instafreeze dinners! (No, he really does help me dump and go.)
We like making banana bread together.
We love to bake cupcakes and breads together during the year. Although our favorite time is the holidays when we bake up a ton of cookies for our family!
My favorite thing to do in the kitchen with my daughters is just watch. I love seeing them get more and more independent. Makes me proud! 🙂
My daughter is 2 and she loves to pretend she’s making whatever I’m making! It’s so fun to see her love for cooking blossom just pretending on the floor or helping me when she can!
My two toddlers enjoy helping me make smoothies and also cutting mushrooms and herbs to put into soups.
I have small cooking classes with my grandkids. The last one we made some jelly. The girls loved it! Then they take home their goods.
Cheryl, I’m curious, Do you find this is even more enjoyable as a grandma?
My kids always loved helping make anything dessert-y, and now my grandkids also love helping when I bake. The overall favourite is probably banana chocolate chip muffins. They also love having their own aprons 😊
Jennifer, I learned how to cook by first doing desserts :). It was more intriguing to my young palate, haha! I love that they all have their own aprons, how fun!
Our favorite thing to Cook together is pizza every Friday night. My daughter has perfected making the dough and each Friday we do a new pizza with an old standby too.
Carmen, and that’s a skill she’ll use the rest of her life!
We like making pizza.
Best thing to do in the kitchen with my kids is making cookies. We review lots of recipes and scroll through Pinterest and then get cracking . I’d love if they were interested in cooking other things-maybe a cooking crate would help -hint hint
Colleen, this is my daughter! I find she’s much more willing to make savory recipes with this kits because she imagines that lots of other kids are too. Mind games 🙂
My son has fallen in love with cooking shows and watching kids make things on YouTube. We have begun doing simple things like cakes mixes and he is my “stirrer” too. I am so happy he wants to learn to cook/bake! We try to do one thing together in the kitchen on the weekends.
I love baking anything and everything with my kids! Brownie bites are our favorite thing to bake. My 5 year old twins like helping spoon the batter in each well, and each brownie comes out perfectly crispy on all 4 sides! No cutting after baking required! Just pop them out of the pan, grab a brownie, and enjoy! 🙂
We love doing crafts, cooking together, and Legos!
We love cooking and baking and spending time in the backyard when the weathers nice.
We go swimming in our backyard and play card games. Not at the same time but two fun activists we do together.
Amber, You have a pool? I guess I know where I’ll be summer vacationing this summer! Make some room!
We do quite a lot of drawing, painting, card games and dancing! 😊
Cori, Your daughter’s IG stories are about the only thing I even bother to watch on IG 🙂
We have been doing a ton of painting and walking the beach ☀️
Katie, walking the beach sounds heavenly!
Unfortunately, I cannot be with my grandkiddos right now. I’ve been using a remote reading program to read stories to them. We both load the book(s) from within the program. They can turn the pages and we can also see each-other as we read/listen.
Ellie, I love this! What is the program? I’d like to do this with my mom.
We’ve been doing a lot of baking, board games and also nature treasure hunts.
We love playing board games and cards games.
Val, I have high hopes that one day board games won’t end with someone in tears at my house 🙂
My grands and I love to make snacks, like apple slices and peanut butter (one slices the apple and the other spreads the peanut butter).
We three also like to do weather experiments.
We love your blog! Thanks!
Kath, Weather experiments? Now that sounds fun! Give me some detail if you have a minute!
Favorite in home activity with grandkids is usually baking bread or goodies in the kitchen. Love this post!
Vickie, oh the memories :). I used to help my grandma make apple and huckleberry pie.
We like to cook and do science experiments.
Crafting is a good way to keep my grandson busy while being quarantine. He loves making things out of the boxes we get in the mail or painting the boxes and pictures. Baking along with making a video is also one of his favorites. He is 7
Games games games! We love playing games together to help pass the time in the afternoon.
Kathy, this sounds just like one of my 7 year olds!
We keep them busy baking and playing board games
We keep them busy with board games & helping in the kitchen
My children enjoy cooking with me. A subscription box wood definitely make it easier. I usually turn to card games or board games when they need something to do. Of course that’s when the rock pile and woods behind our house aren’t a good option!
Crystal, sounds like our kids would get along really well 🙂
My son loves to cook, loves photography and planting a garden. He started collecting his own book of recipes of things he loves to cook . Cooking has helped him with trying new foods and techniques and being creative. Seeing the excitement of the finish product has given him much more confidence in himself and it’s a great way to spend time with family.
Stacy, that just gave me an idea, I bet photography would be a really fun activity for my kids. What kind of camera do you have for him?
My daughter is on cloud nine when she makes something in the kitchen that everyone loves. It’s such a confidence booster!
Now that spring is in full swing, my daughter and I are having fun gardening. We’re keeping it easy by sprouting a few beans and see it in our kitchen window and will move them outside once they get a little bigger. This has been a really fun activity that we can go back to every day to see the progress and growth.
Suzannah, I haven’t done a garden for a few years, but we’re all in this year! We’ll start planting next week!
It would be so fun to try all the subscription boxes! I wish I had endless amounts of money so that I could afford to get them all for my little girls, the would love them!
Jamie, I wish I had a storage room full of these boxes!
I have never heard of kids cooking subscription boxes, these look amazing and so fun! My daughter is 10 and loves so many activities from legos to puzzles (our favorite calming activity to do together) to piano and she’s learning to make her first quilt. With the pandemic and at home learning, her math teacher has been giving them baking assignments to practice using fractions and she has fallen in love! She says she now wants to start her own baking business! I will have to check into the subscription boxes, thanks for sharing your thoughts on them.
Mary, you sound like a fantastic mom. I love how broad your activities are, what a gift that is for her. My daughter is almost 10 and she would be on cloud nine if her teacher gave assignments like that!
Great recommendations! Cooking subscription boxes are such a fun way to bond and teach kids important skills. For indoor imaginative play, parents can also check out a doll house for girls from Toynix, which encourages storytelling, creativity, and role-play. Combining both keeps kids engaged and learning in multiple ways.
My kids are always asking to help me out in the kitchen. Last week they made their own scrambled eggs, grilled cheese sandwiches, and then easy peanut butter cookies for a treat. They loved it! One of my goals is to teach my kids how to cook so that when they move out of the house, they can make their own real food and take care of themselves.
Nicole, that’s my goal as well. Learning patience in the kitchen is definitely a challenge for me though. How do you do it?
I love to cook with my nieces and my brother is an amazing cook–and he’s so patient with the girls! I’m also a teacher and we cook in my classroom all the time. I’ve been sending my brother “kid friendly” recipes that he or my SIL can help the girls make, and they send my pictures back showing their progress. So cute! 🙂 I had no idea about cooking subscriptions for kids! 🙂 This is an amazing idea! <3
My favorite activity to do with grandkids is baking! Fingers crossed, hoping to win the Raddish subscription!! Thank you!
Clara, is it easier to cook with grandkids than your own kids? It makes me so anxious sometimes but I want them to know it!
What a wonderful way to teach kids how to cook! I love cooking with my kids and these subscription boxes are a great way to get them interested in cooking!
This is great! And definitely such a fun activity with the quarantine situation. Currently, some fun activities my daughter and I are doing is trying new foods and going outside on walks!
As a grandma whose grandchildren have lots of “stuff,” I love the idea of these boxes as gifts. A worthwhile fun activity that teaches skills that can be used their whole lives – it’s perfect! Thanks!
Wow. Had no idea these even existed. We are usually so busy and the one good thing about quarantine is the slow down. I have baked and cooked a lot more and am having my kids help more, so this would be fun.
Heidi, and ironically, I’ve had to simplify my cooking! No time to experiment when everyone is hungry, haha!
My girls and I love to cook and bake in the kitchen and they all sound awesome! Sounds like perfect birthday and Christmas gifts from the relatives! 😉
This looks so fun. My kids love to help in the kitchen but this is the first time u have heard of Raffish. I am going to try them out!
Wow: how did I not know about kids cooking subscription boxes before?! This is BRILLIANT!! Thanks so much for constantly broadening my horizons! I love that you shared both an adult and a kid’s review. Super helpful and I will definitely be checking these out!
My kids and I love doing any and every kind of craft project or science experiment! I have 4 year old twins so we do a lot of painting especially. They are so excited to share their artwork with family, although we’ve resorted to mailing our projects to family instead of hand delivering because of stay at home orders. 🙂 We also love gardening, and just planted 2 apple trees that will grow with my kids!
Vicky, My twins also love all things art! I’ve got a stack of pictures that I need to ship to my sister, although I’m secretly hoping she’ll be able to come visit soon instead. Fingers crossed!
These boxes are wonderful. My daughter can execute a meal all on her own with these helpful cards. Much better than I can give her with just a printed off recipe.
One of our favorite at home activities with the kids are building with legos. They are at a fun age where blocks bring out their imagination like nothing else can.
I really appreciate your reviews! I wanted to order a box for my daughter, and based on your review, I tried ordering from Foodstirs. Unfortunately, I’ve had a horrible experience with the company. I had to create an account to place the order, but after placing the order my login credentials did not work. My card was charged for the order, but I never received shipping confirmation or tracking info, and no box ever came. Repeated attempts at emailing and calling the company have resulted in no response. I later found on Facebook and the Better Business Bureau site that many others have had the same experience as me. This is not your fault, of course! But, I want anyone that is considering ordering from Foodstirs to know about my experience–I would avoid this company at all costs.
Clare, Wow, thank you for the heads up. I will email my contact about this and see if I can get a response.
Hi, I was very interested in the cooking/baking subscriptions. Would you be so kind and let me know what ages are appropriate to each choice?
I have a 3 year old grand nephew who adores cooking and baking with his mom. I am kinda thinking these are for older children. What a wonderful gift to give to children. I actually get a quilting subscription every month and look forward to getting it.
Linda, I started doing these with my daughter when she was 3, which was a little young, but still fun. My kids are now 6 and 8 and they LOVE these boxes and I feel like they can understand the directions better rather than it being me just telling them what to do. I would say Raddish, Foodstir, and Kidstir all work great for ages 3 and up, the Little Sous I think would be better for a slightly older kid, maybe 9 or 10 ish. Of course, this will be different for each kid since their cooking skills can vary so much. I think it’s a fantastic gift for kids of any age!
